Rooftop Yoga 2017!


For the second year in a row, Metta Yoga Initiative will team up with Englewood Community Development Corporation to offer several donation-based All-Levels Vinyasa Flow practices on the beautiful rooftop of The Commonwealth Apartments. Stay tuned for the 2017 scheduled dates and times!

**All proceeds raised from these event go to support scholarship funds for Englewood Community Development's Youth Sports Program and Metta Yoga Initiative's Community Outreach Scholarship Fund.

PRACTICE SERIES: Yoga Fundamentals - Exploring Yoga as a Beginner!


So, what's all this talk about yoga? Interested in understanding the physical and stress-relieving benefits of a regular yoga practice? Curious about the early history and philosophy of yoga? In this five-week series, students will explore the foundations of a beginning yoga practice including proper access and alignment of basic yoga postures (asana) and beneficial use of breath work (pranayama). Students also will be introduced to fundamental principles of yoga history and philosophy. **This Practice Series is designed to offer three (3) Practice Series classes and one (1) full Alignment to Flow practice.

Week 1 (Nov. 1): Practice Series Class & Self-exploration
Week 2 (Nov. 8): Practice Series Class & Self-exploration
Week 3 (Nov. 15): Practice Series Class & Self-exploration / Monumental Yoga!
*Week 4 (Nov. 20): Beginning Yoga Practice! (Basics & Beyond: Alignment to Flow)

WORKSHOP: Root to Rise - Foundations of Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga by definition is a yoga practice that includes kriyas, pranayama, chanting of mantras, and ultimately, meditation. An uplifting combination of spiritual and physical practices, the purpose is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.

Join our special guests Sada Nam Singh and PuradDev Kaur as we welcome them to Indianapolis and the Metta Yoga studio for this special workshop focused on the history, philosophy and practice of Kundalini Yoga.

Root to Rise: Foundation of Kundalini Yoga is accessible to yogis of all levels, and is particularly helpful for people who cannot sit still calmly for long periods of time with no thoughts at all.  Oftentimes, the meditations involve repetitive movement, accompanied by a specific breath, and possibly a mantra.
